Late Winter Update

With winter now heading towards spring (if you call this winter - lol!) I will be doing some work on a few areas of my site here. I will be blogging more often to keep you updated on happenings and such and the header photo above will also change with the seasons. I`ll also be working on getting visitors photos from 2007 through 2009 (minus a few because of my learning the digital camera). Sorry to those of you I accidentally deleted. Also i will be adding new works on both my Zazzle Stores - do keep in touch with them through the quick links to the left here or above by clicking the “Shop” button. If you have an interesting story or information you would like to share please e-mail it to my e-mail address to the left here in the Facebook box. Thought it`s about time for an update on what’s happening. Lookout time is winding down quickly. The shutdown date at this time is Saturday, 9-26-09 unless extended– which of course I`m hoping for. All in all we had a great summer at Goat Peak. It started out with a “BANG”: a lot of wet lightning and lots of small fires. Since then it slowed down a bunch with some rain from the storms we have gotten.

As of right now we are just entering into a low pressure once again so we will see if the moisture will continue. I would like to thank all of you who have paid a visit to Goat Peak this summer and also those of you who have visited my Lookout web site and my Zazzle stores. Do keep in touch with the sites and do check out my “Lightning Bill Arts” Zazzle store in the Quick Links along with my new store “Z Best of… Lightning Bill Arts.” You can look me up on Facebook as well.

There is still some lookout time left so do pay a visit. Fall is a beautiful time of year with the Western Larch just now turning yellow and the bird migration is also happening. Thanks again!

Goat Peak Season Opening

Bill will be returning to Goat Peak Lookout on June 16 for another busy summer.

In other news, he experienced a catastrophic computer failure and will be “out of service” electronically for the next 2-3 weeks.

Lightning Bill Arts: A bit of background

I have had artistic gifts all of my life. Since I was real young I have been drawing and have worked with different mediums. Last summer-2008-I had a special visitor up to visit us at Goat Peak who was into watercolor and ink art. She did a couple paintings of the lookout and myself when a lightning storm was happening. I seen what she was doing and told her I was into art myself but never worked with watercolor and ink before but would like to try it. She ended up revisiting me later on with art supplies and I`m now having alot of fun using a talent I was not using. I would like to thank Maria Coryell Martin for her help in getting me going again.

Now for Photography, I also always had an eye and for it and in 1980 I got a Nice camera for Christmas only to have it stolen a year later. It wasn`t until 2006 that I bought a digital camera and since then have gotten some great shots. I have been working Fire lookouts for a good twenty years now and have not one picture of lightning. I`m now saving up to get a nice lightning shot camera.

Ok, now that I`m getting my artistic talents together, I have came up with an idea to share them with you by creating gifts and keep sakes that you can puchase on my on line store at Zazzle. It is called Lightning Bill Arts and you can link to it by the SHOP link or QUICK links on my home page. Even if your not into shopping you are more than welcome to browse my Zazzle Gallery. It is changing all the time just like this web site is so do visit once in awhile. And last of all for my Poetry. I do have a few poems on this web site and eventually would like to do a book.
